When I first started Common Sense Wisdom (CSW) I wanted to help people understand what the scriptures were really saying verses what we may have been taught. I come from a Christian background with experience in several denominations and a few cults. After sitting in churches for a large part of my life, I got tired of hearing the same old message. I felt, no, I knew there was more to the Bible than what we were learning because I enjoyed studying the scriptures myself and saw a lot more in there than what was being preached.
The scriptures said that most of what we were learning was just the basics, the foundations of God. “Therefore, having left the word of the beginning of the Messiah, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of belief toward Elohim, of the teaching of immersions, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of everlasting judgment.” (Heb. 6:1-2 The Scriptures 1998+)
It also said that Jesus was spoken about in the Old Testament. No one ever talked about that and I wanted to know where in the Old Testament it said it. “Yeshua said to them, ‘This is what I meant when I was still with you and told you that everything written about me in the Torah of Moshe, the Prophets and the Psalms had to be fulfilled.’ Then he opened their minds, so that they could understand the Tanakh.” (Luke 24:44-45 CJB)
So I set out to show others that this was the truth. After all, the Bible did start at Genesis and end with Revelation. So there was a lot more to learn.
CSW’s First Year
When I first started CSW, I took its name and purpose from the book of Proverbs. “Common sense is a fountain of life to one who has it, whereas fools are punished by their own folly.” (Proverbs 16:22 CJB) I love Proverbs because it speaks about how to live your life in the best possible way. If our society actually followed Proverbs’ advice we would be in a different situation right now. While my intent was to write about the verses in Proverbs my writing took a different turn. My primary focus was on the spiritual and historical aspects of the Bible and what God really said about a matter.
The first year I wrote whenever I had time. I under estimated the time it took to write an article. Mostly, this was because I had to question everything I had already learned. I didn’t want to regurgitate the same old messages without Biblical proof or using verses taken out of context. This has led me on a new discovery of learning the scriptures.
Some people didn’t understand why I would want to write a blog instead of going out to teach people. It was not what I wanted to do or who I was. I prefer the background scene. I prefer to read so I can have a reference point when I look something up. That’s why I had to take a lot of notes when I was in church. It’s just the way my brain works. I wanted people to accept me for who I was verses who they thought I should be. I continued to write, even though people wanted me to get on to YouTube. One day maybe I will, but not today.
CSW’s Second Year
In my second year, I decided to get a little more serious about writing what I’ve learned. I began writing more frequent posts. From time to time I got discouraged because it seemed like no one read the posts because no one commented. Then, out of the blue, I would get a private message sent to me, encouraging me or someone I know calling me to ask questions. A person would want to talk privately because she didn’t want anyone in her church to think she lost her mind or didn’t believe what the pastor was saying. That day I comprehended just how much of a stronghold some churches had on their congregations. I took these messages as God’s way of telling me to continue.
While my focus was on Christians I quickly realized a lot of people who mostly studied the Torah were no different than Christians. They spoke badly about Christians, who spoke badly about them. A lot of Torah Observant people condemned Christians. Some Muslims condemned Jews and Christians. Some Christians condemned others as well as their own. This journey has opened my eyes to things I couldn’t understand. Why was everyone so hateful if God is Love and they all claim to serve God? Even the Muslims are from Abraham so where did they go wrong? [I don’t believe everyone in these groups act hateful.]
This leads me to search for more truth. I don’t know it all, but what I do know I am willing to tell others about it. My heart is to teach the truth as I know it. So I continued to write, hoping some people can be free from man’s bondage.
CSW Now
Now I’m in my third year. More people read my articles and a few even comment on them. I established a Facebook page and twitter account for CSW. I use the Facebook and Twitter accounts to get a little more personal with you. I add different posts, articles and pictures to inform you more about the Bible, your health, preparedness, and other news; to encourage you and to make you laugh. I want you to get to know me better and I want to get to know you better. So if you haven’t already, join me on my Facebook page and twitter account and let’s stay in touch. Also, I try to write at least three articles a week. I’m still working on being consistent. Pray for me in this area.
CSW’s Future
As I go forward with Common Sense Wisdom I want to change things a little bit. I want to round out my teachings to speak to your spirit, soul, and body because the whole Bible, not just Proverbs, speaks to every aspect of life. Therefore, I started adding more health and preparedness articles. I will continue with these as well as write articles that speak to your soul, your mindset.
My primary focus in writing is to let you know who YHVH is, how much he cares for you, what his kingdom is and how to live in it. All of this involves YHVH, Yeshua, and His Holy Spirit.
There are a few things I want to add this coming year. Here they are:
A New Design
I’m working on a new design for CSW. It will be friendlier and easy to navigate. Hopefully, it will be pleasing to look at also.
Testify to the World Page
My hope is to have people from all over the world give their testimony about the goodness of God. He is awesome and deserves to be praised. Testimonies testify to his awesomeness. So when it is up, please send in your testimony. Let the world know just how good He is to you. “They will gush forth the fame of your abounding goodness, and they will sing of your righteousness.” (Psalm 145:7 CJB)
Meet Yeshua the Messiah Page
This page will introduce Yeshua and his purpose for coming here. It will also answer such questions as “What does salvation mean?” “How can I become a disciple?” and “I’m saved, now what?”
Pray for Me Page
This page will allow you to post prayer requests for others to pray over and for you to pray for others. This way we will be following scriptural protocol. “Therefore, openly acknowledge your sins to one another, and pray for each other, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16)
Guest Writers
Let me be the first to tell you, I don’t know everything. I come across a lot of articles that have been a blessing to me. This year I want to add some here to benefit you too. Please note that the articles I post are articles I believe 100% in. This does not mean I fully endorse the writer and everything he/she writes, unless I say so. This is because no one agrees 100% with everything a person says.
Store
Writing takes a lot of work and a lot of time. I am not a ministry so I do not ask for donations. Therefore, I have included affiliate links in some articles and will continue to include some in future articles. I am adding ads to my site that I think you would like. So if you could purchase something or click on an ad and purchase something I would appreciate it. On every purchase you make I get a small percentage of that.
I am creating a store to sell my handmade creations, print designs and writings. I have books, tracts, bookmarks and other items I am working on now.
I love to write and design and would love for this to be my full time job. You buying something can help my dream come true. I thank you in advance.
Give Me Your Suggestions
Now that I’ve told you everything I want to do, I want to know what you want to learn more about. Give me your top five (5) suggestions and topic ideas that are of interest to you. Then I will research it if I don’t know anything about it, write the article, and then we can have a discussion about it.
I want to help as many people as I can and your suggestions may help me do that. List your top five topics in the comments below.
Prayer Request
I’m asking for your prayers as I move forward in this area of my life. I want YHVH’s hand to be on my life as I write so His truth can come forth; for me to write with boldness without compromising the truth; and for every article to be read by the person it was intended for. I truly thank you for your prayers.
Scriptures CSW Stands On
[Ezra] arrived at Yerushalayim in the fifth month of the seventh year of the king. He began going up to Yerushalayim from Bavel on the first day of the first month and arrived on the first day of the fifth month, since the good hand of his God was on him. For Ezra had set his heart on studying and practicing the Torah of ADONAI and teaching Israel the laws and rulings. (Ezra 7:8-10 CJB)
“Therefore, leaving behind the initial lessons about the Messiah, let us go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of turning from works that lead to death, trusting God, and instruction about washings, s’mikhah, the resurrection of the dead and eternal punishment. And, God willing, this is what we will do.” (Hebrews 6:1-3 CJB)
“Common sense is a fountain of life to one who has it, whereas fools are punished by their own folly.” (Proverbs 16:22 CJB)
“Therefore, openly acknowledge your sins to one another, and pray for each other, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16)
“They will gush forth the fame of your abounding goodness, and they will sing of your righteousness.” (Psalm 145:7 CJB)
Thank you for your vision 🙂 I sincerely appreciate your dedication to helping others get out of conventional religion. This morning, I really wanted to be lifted. I tried to read a book called “hearing from God” but i kept getting distracted with so much on my heart so I danced to release my thoughts and soon as I sat down I found your blog and began reading and it was such a blessing!!! I love creative thinking and finding new ways to challenge myself in the Lord.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I am glad you found it to be a blessing. You have surely blessed my soul today.
