Psalm 18 is a song to God from David about how God delivered David from all of his enemies and from Saul. Although I am not fighting in a war with physical enemies chasing me, I agree with David. God has delivered me from so many things that he deserves all the praise I can give him and then some more.
He has delivered me from death several times and gotten me out of more trouble than I care to talk about. Yet, the truth is that even if he had never done anything for me he would still be worthy of praise because he is the creator of all living things. Everything that has breath should praise their creator.
So let’s praise Yahweh Elohim for all that he has done for us today, for delivering us out of our oppression and from our enemies.
A Praise to Yahweh
I love you, Yahweh! You are my strength.
Yahweh, you are my Rock, my fortress and deliverer, my God, my Rock, in who I find shelter. You are my shield, the power that saves me, my stronghold. I call on you, Yahweh, who is worthy of praise; and I am saved from my enemies.
In my distress I called to you, Yahweh. I cried out to you, my God. Out of your temple you heard my voice and my cry reached your ears.
For you, Yahweh, light my lamp. Yahweh, my God, you light up my darkness. You are perfect. Your word, Yahweh, has been tested by fire; you shield all who take refuge in you.
For who is God but Yahweh? Who is a Rock but our God? It is you God who girds me with strength. You make my way go straight. You make me swift, sure-footed as a deer. You give me your shield, which is salvation; your right hand holds me up; your humility makes me great.
Yahweh is alive! Blessed is my Rock! Exalted be the God of my salvation. So I give thanks to you, Yahweh, among the nations; I sing praises to your name.
Amen
