It’s amazing how God has given us everything we need to stay healthy as well as get well. In his scriptures he has given us dietary laws to follow. He’s told us there is medicine in the leaves. Yet, we fail to apply his word to our lives. Instead, we think we can eat anything we want. Live any kind of way we want. Then speak his word over us and be healed. I will admit sometimes this works, but not every time.
I spent a lot of years at a church that believes in divine healing with the laying on of hands. Many people were healed. Some later relapsed and even died from their disease. It was said this happened because the person didn’t have enough faith or left our church where the anointing covered them and kept them healed. I didn’t understand these answers…no, the truth is I couldn’t accept these as answers as to why they didn’t stay healed. Something was missing. This could not be the truth of the matter. Was not God omnipresent, all knowing, and not confined to a building? I began to search for answers. I started with the scriptures. This is what I found out.
Jesus Never Lost a Case
When Jesus healed people they stayed healed. One guy even asked Jesus to help his unbelief and still his son was delivered from a deaf and dumb spirit. Another guy’s friends believed for him. So I knew not having enough of your own faith was the problem. Leaving our church was ridiculous because Jesus is not confined to a building or a particular denomination. Jesus healed people outside of a building, whether he was walking down the road, in someone else’s home, or near the water.
Every person Jesus healed stayed healed. No one ever returned to him complaining it didn’t work. Whatever he does is a done deal. He heals people because of his compassion for them, not so a man can get some glory by laying hands. Also, he did it so they would believe he was the Messiah.
So why do people today get sick again with the same sickness?
Why Do People Get Sick Again?
I knew no one could really give me a satisfying answer. For that reason, I asked the only one who could – Yahweh Elohim, the creator of all. This is the answer I received. The people were not taught to follow his laws concerning dietary measures. People were sick because they sinned against their own body, whether through sex, over eating, or being in a polluted environment. Once Jesus healed them they just went back to their old ways. Whatever got them there in the first place will get them there again if they don’t change their ways.
Jesus told people not to sin anymore after he healed them. Most Christians spiritualize this as if it has to do with a person’s salvation. It doesn’t. He told them to forsake the sin that got them sick in the first place. Many people don’t realize gluttony is a sin. Eating animals forbidden by the Mosaic Law is a sin.
We eat whatever we want not realizing the consequences of our actions. We want everything right now or as fast as possible. We radiate and over cook our food, destroying valuable nutrients and enzymes needed for our body to survive. We put dead food in a living body then expect it to live in a healthy state.
We place all kinds of chemicals on our decaying flesh, trying to cover up the foul smells that emanates from inside our bodies. We douse ourselves with perfumes, lotions, and deodorants that clog our pores, trapping toxins inside our bodies, allowing these toxins to poison us.
We stop the natural flow of our bodies because we’re in public. We won’t use the bathroom until we get home. Yet, we have eaten and drank all day while in school or at work. This causes more problems than I care to mention.
We have sex with whomever we want to without taking any precautions. We can’t stay faithful to just one person. We invite other people into our bedroom. We drink until our heart is content (meaning – we can’t feel the pain anymore). We suffocate our lungs, which hold the very breath of Yahweh, with smoke. We refuse to exercise or at least walk a little with the legs Elohim gave us to stay healthy.
We never give our bodies a rest from eating, from working, and from stress and worry. We eat all day every day. We’re consumed with bigger and better. As a result we see our offices more than we see our homes. We accumulate more debts, which brings more stress and more worrying. We never allow our bodies a chance to breathe and take a rest from all of this.
Reaping What We’ve Sown
Then we wonder what is wrong with us. Our bodies are working over time trying to stay alive. It isolates toxins to deal with later so the toxins won’t kill us quickly. Elohim created our bodies to repair itself, but we won’t let it. Eventually, our bodies get tired and worn down. And when that happens only Yahweh can save us. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter if he heals us if we keep sinning against our bodies.
You can’t keep doing the same thing and expect the outcome to be different. The scriptures say, “you reap what you sow.” If you sow death and decay, what should you expect to reap? If you sow healthy habits, what should you expect to reap? You can’t sow corn and expect green beans to show up. It won’t happen, no matter how hard you pray. Corn is coming up, unless you do something to stunt its growth or dig up the seeds and plant green beans instead. The choice is yours.
What are you sowing to yourself today? Do you need to change some things? Or are you okay with your health and healing?
Prayer Time
Our Heavenly Father, who is in heaven,
Help us to walk in your healing anointing and not man’s. Help us to follow your word and apply it to our lives. Help us become whole.
In Yeshua the Messiah’s name, Amen.
